"That's One Small Step for Man, One Giant Leep for Mankind."

"That's One Small Step for Man, One Giant Leap for Mankind." These were the words Niel Armstrong said when he first placed his feet upon the Moon. The purpose of the mission was to land the first, few brave men on the lunar surface and return them home without incident.. The crew of Neil A. Armstrong, commander; Michael Collins, Command Module pilot; and Edwin E. Aldrin Jr., Lunar Module pilot were the brave men chosen for the greatest attempt NASA and the United States had ever made. The spacecraft landed in the Sea of Tranquility at 4:18 p.m. EDT. Soon after, they shared their first meal on the Moon. Then they proceeded to begin the exploration of the  surface they had planned on having earlier that day. The surface exploration lasted  2½ hours, before the crew had to return to the spacecraft. Forty-seven pounds of material from the Moon was collected and returned to be analyzed by some of the greatest scientist the world has ever produced. The mission took 195.15 hours and is credited with being the first Lunar and any planetary body landing. Thanks to the courage of all involved from President Kennedy to the astronauts that came before the crew of Apollo 11, and the entire staff at NASA for showing us the Moon. To infinity and beyond is next.

  1. I diagree with the opening quote given. Even though these very words have enthralled people for many years, and many have commited them to memory by route. They are innacurate. Amazing to think such an infoumous line in history could be miss interpreted, but this one is. For years Neil Armstrong stated he meant to put an "a" in this sentence. His famous quote should of been; "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap formankind". This is in fact what he had said. The BBC News published an article on this topic on October 2nd, 2006. Peter Shann Ford reviewd the tapes of the moon landing. Mr Ford applied audio analysis software which revealed the mising "a" was there all along. The missing "a" was blotted out by transmission static. All over the world, people have memorized this quote inaccurately. The quote itself could be said to be as American as apple pie, yet it was incomplete until moder technology reveal it's full sentencing.
